Light Bowgun Guide

MHN light bowgun

The Light Bowgun in Monster Hunter Now is arguably the best weapon, mainly because all you have to do is sit back and let the bullets do all the work. Not only does it deal a ludicrous amount of damage, but it’s also one of the safest options in the game, thanks to its long-range attacks. Combine those aspects with the ability to constantly hit a monster’s weak points and elemental damage, and you’ve got yourself a fan favorite amongst the Hunters.

If you’re tired of burning through your First Aid Meds or using melee builds, try your hand with the LBG! And to help you with that, we’ve got some tips we’d like to impart.

Best LBG Weapons in Monster Hunter Now

You can’t rule out one Light Bowgun and call it quits. There’s no single best LBG in Monster Hunter Now. Since you want to focus on utilizing each monster’s elemental weakness, having more than two LBGs using different elements is natural.

Here are the best Light Bowguns you should build:

  • Blazing Rifle (Fire)
  • Flame Blitz (Fire)
  • Thunder Blitz (Thunder)
  • Ice Blitz (Ice)
  • Madness Rifle (Water)
  • Jagras Blitz (Water)

If you’re looking for a Water LBG, the Jagras Blitz is the perfect weapon until you get to the late game. The main reason why we prefer this over the Madness Rifle (Jyuratodos) is mainly because Jyuratodos is harder to find.

As for the Fire LBGs, the Blazing Rifle can be crafted using Anjanath materials, while the Flame Blitz uses Rathalos materials. Both are excellent weapons, but the Blazing Rifle might be better if you prioritize the Quick Switch skill and usage of Sticky Ammo.

Finally, the Ice Blitz and Thunder Blitz are the sole LBGs for the ice and thunder elements. You can get both of them, but it’s best to prioritize the Thunder Bllitz since there aren’t many monsters in the game that are weak to ice.

You can build those regular LBGs with no elements attached, but only if you don’t want to invest a lot of resources. Most of the power of the Light Bowgun lies in its element, so it’d be a shame not to take advantage of that.

Monster Hunter Now: Best Armor Skills for LBG

Skills can drastically decrease the time it takes to reload your LBG, your weapon’s recoil, and more. With the right armor skills, you can quickly barrage every monster—constantly breaking parts and hitting their weak points.

Here are the best armor skills to have for a Light Bowgun build:

  • Reload Speed
  • Recoil Down
  • Rising Tide
  • Artful Dodger

Having Level 3 Reload Speed and Recoil Down is a must, but Rising Tide is a skill that we find helpful. It increases your defense and attack power as the 50-second timer runs out. Sure, it doesn’t look like much at first, but you’ll thank us later once you do late-game hunts. On the other hand, Artful Dodger makes executing perfect evades easier to perform, keeping you out of harm’s way and letting you reload your ammo instantly.

Suppose you’d like to have more defensive skills; in that case, these two options should help you slay even the toughest monsters:

  • Divine Blessing
  • Burst
  • Poison Resist

For the Burst and Poison Resist skills, look no further than the Rathian Coil. It’s a great DPS option to get since not only does it make you slightly immune to poison, but you’ll also get increased attack power whenever you land consecutive hits. Meanwhile, the Divine Blessing skill reduces the damage you receive from attacks.
