MHW Iceborn Multiplayer Weapon Tier List

iceborn multiplayer weapons

There are fourteen weapons for you to wield in Monster Hunter World Iceborn. The franchise has always been known for its monster-slaying combat system, and what better way to diversify the way you hunt these giants than through switching your weapons? They all have advantages and disadvantages, and it’s your choice to pick your poison. Thankfully, MHW's deep weapon and crafting system rewards those who take the time to master these deadly things.

If you’re looking for the best weapons to use for multiplayer play, you’ve come to the right place. Here are all the weapons ranked best to worst for co-op.

Heavy Bowgun (S-Tier)

The Heavy Bowgun is already great in solo play but shines even more in multiplayer situations. It offers stellar damage output and allows you to shoot enemies from a safe distance. When it comes to playing with other people, your team will be busy bringing the monster's attention towards them. You can use this chance to aim towards the enemy’s weak point and deliver a mighty blow.

It gets even better with a Bow user in tow, as you can tag team targets together. The only thing that can hold you back when using the Heavy Bowgun is how sluggish it can feel. Since you’ll move slowly compared to carrying a Light Bowgun, positioning and knowing when to move to another spot is vital.

Hunting Horn (A-Tier)

The Hunting Horn is a weapon that can complement any team, whether you’re with a squad full of Light Bowgun or melee weapon users. If used correctly, you can assist your teammates effectively by tooting some tunes and applying buffs. Some Hunting Horns can increase your defense or attacks, while others can heal other players.

Hunting Horns doesn’t just give status support either; it can do heavyweight combos that can KO the living hell out of a monster. Thanks to its various uses, it’s an excellent weapon for multiplayer play.

Charge Blade (B-Tier)

What makes the Charge Blade special is its amazing array of combos. It’s an easy pick-up for any new player since it’s a medium-high-damage attacker. You don’t need to compromise your DPS output compared to the Sword and Shield.

If your team manages to distract the monster in question, you can unleash your charged combos easily, resulting in a greater range of destruction. The Charge Blade is intuitive to pick up and deals a decent amount of damage. The DPS output won’t top the charts, but it’s a far better option. Just remember to be careful if you’re in the axe form, as it can end up becoming a problem for your team since they can get hurt from the sweeping attacks or make them flinch.

Dual Blades (C-Tier)

Dual Blades are a decent alternative if you want to take a break from using the Charge Blade. These bad boys have earned the reputation of being the fastest weapon in Monster Hunter World, which is why you might wonder why we put it in the C-Tier. Well, that’s because it doesn’t have many uses in multiplayer besides hacking and slashing.

You can undoubtedly swing your arms around a lot, but you’ll only do a low amount of damage per hit, regardless. Most combos done on Dual Blades could be better spent with a larger weapon, like the Heavy Bowgun. The DB’s sole purpose is to attack your enemy quickly—that’s it. And that won’t benefit you or your team considering you need something that can assist them in one way or another. Regarding team play, the Charge Blade may be better if you’re considering cutting monster parts like tails.

Lance (D-Tier)

The Lance in Monster Hunter World is one of the most defensive weapons, so you’d think it would be a top-tier weapon for co-op sessions. Unfortunately, that’s not the case here. Sure, the Lance can act as a direct support, but because of their limited movement, redirecting or distracting monsters isn’t easy. Using the weapon means you’re essentially trapped in a purely defensive state.

While the Lance has multiple defensive options, its multi-directional movement is languid. At the very least, this weapon’s attacks won’t interfere with your teammates much since you’ll have trouble running around and poking everything. It’s a great weapon that can help you and your team out in a pinch, but don’t expect a lot from it beyond that.
