Like the original Path of Exile, the demand for currency items like Chaos Orbs and Exalted Orbs is enough for players to spend money on. Many players are chasing the best gear to tackle each Pinnacle boss and gain prestige from defeating them. Chaos Orbs here have been revamped to remove one affix while adding a new one, which further increases their overall value in rerolling the perfect affixes. Many currency sellers from PoE 1 can also earn cash for PoE 2. While some of the lower tier Orbs have been removed like the Chromatic Orb, many of the high tier Orbs still remain in PoE 2, which should feel familiar for the older players.  

The Currency Exchange is one avenue for transactions in PoE 2. If players wish to also buy Unique items, crafted Waystones, Tablets, crafted Rares and Jewels not listed in the Currency Exchange, direct player trading is a good way to receive these items.  

For new sellers, here is the hierarchy of currency items from cheapest to most expensive and what effects they provide:  

• Scroll of Wisdom: Identifies items 

• Orb of Transmutation: Convert Normal items to Magic 

• Orb of Augmentation: Adds an affix to Magic items 

• Orb of Alteration: Rerolls Magic item affixes with 1-2 new affixes 

• Orb of Chance: Converts Normal item to either Magic, Rare or Unique 

• Chromatic Orb: Rerolls the color of gem sockets 

• Jeweller’s Orb: Rerolls the number of gem sockets 

• Blessed Orb: Rerolls implicit modifiers of items 

• Fusing Orb: Rerolls the gem socket links in an item 

• Orb of Alchemy: Convert Normal items into Rare 

• Orb of Binding: Converts Normal into Rare with 4 linked sockets 

• Vaal Orb: Corrupts an item with complete random affixes but locks it from further modification 

• Regal Orb: Converts Magic items into Rare with one new affix 

• Cartographer’s Sextant: Adds a Sextant modifier to an Atlas map node 

• Cartographer’s Chisel: Improves the quality of loot in a map 

• Orb of Annulment: Removes an affix from a Magic or Rare item.  

• Chaos Orb: Rerolls a Rare item with 4-6 new affixes 

• Ancient Orb: Transforms a Unique item into another Unique of the same item class 

• Divine Orb: Rerolls the values of all explicit affixes in an item 

• Exalted Orb: Adds a new random affix on a Rare item 

• Eternal Orb: Saves all the affixes and values of an item as a base template and can be used to revert the item back to its previous saved state.
