How Many People Play COD in 2025?
About Call of Duty
Development of the Call of Duty games throughout the years was an alternating affair between Infinity Ward, shepherds of the successful Modern Warfare, and Treyarch, the newer kids on the block in charge of Black Ops. Treyarch was later replaced by Sledgehammer Games to break new narrative ground with Vanguard—while slightly lackluster in comparison, it created a new COD story and multiplayer experience. Infinity Ward focused on Warzone, COD's very first battle royale experience—it's free-to-play and is a tremendous success. No longer two separate games, Activision combined both to form the cohesive COD experience we know today.
