Lethal Company Mimic Mod is a Must-Add

mimic mod

Modders are having a grand time adding new plug-ins to the game, and players are happy to try out all these further modifications. The Mimic mod, in particular, has become increasingly popular as it adds another layer of surprise for players. Newer gamers need to learn what it does, so this article will explain what this downloadable content does.

Fire Exits are NOT 100% Safe

The mod developer never outrightly explained what it does, but he does specify that it adds another layer of difficulty. Players had to try it to figure out what it does. Some gamers thought the mod was similar to the Skinwalker file, which allowed monsters to imitate the voices and appearances of crewmates. Users also thought downloading this would enable monsters to pretend to be scrap. However, the Mimic mod had something else in store.

The Mimic mod introduces a new monster to the game, imitating Fire Exits. Usually, people use these doors to cover more ground or as an emergency escape during chases. With this mod, random Fire Exits spawn in various numbers and places, and they won't lead players to the outside like the original ones. These doors are creatures that will insta-kill anyone who attempts to leave through them.

There are many situations when players will be forced to look for a Fire Exit to make a quick getaway. However, the additional threat of having these doors be potentially deadly creatures makes the game even more difficult. Fortunately, there are ways for players to figure out which ones are real and which are fake.

How to Deal with the Fire Exit Mimic

One thing for sure is that these Mimics cannot be killed. The only way to deal with them is to avoid interacting with them. Fortunately, several methods can help players distinguish real fire extincts from fake ones. Here are ways to survive a Moon filled with Mimics:

  • Learn how many Fire Exits are in a Moon – Each location has a fixed set of Fire Exits, which is constant every time. The site may vary, but the total number does not. This knowledge can help players quickly identify if the Fire Exit they passed in the hallway is fake.
  • Get Crewmates to enter the building via the fire exits. Fortunately, the Mimics only exist inside the buildings. Outside doors are safe, so players can mark the true Fire Exits if they enter the establishments through them. Getting crewmates to join all the exterior doors can help teams figure out the safe ones.
  • Look at the Prompts – Fire Exits will give players the "Exit" prompt when interacting with them. However, Mimics can change the wording to "Die" or "Feed." Quickly spotting this change in prompts and then aborting the action will help save a life. Fortunately, the Mimic won't kill someone unless the leave action is fully executed, so these doors won't eat players who stop mid-way.
  • Slightly Bright Light – While unconfirmed, some players have reported that Mimics glow somewhat brighter than their counterparts. This tactic allows these creatures to be easily seen and tempt players to use them. If you spot a door that seems slightly more promising than the ones you have used and are safe, it is most likely a fake one.
  • Different Shade of Red – Another thing that players have reported is that Mimics might have a different hue of red compared to true Fire Exits. It is unclear if they appear slightly brighter or darker, so gamers must figure them out.

More Updates Coming to the Game

While mods like the Mimic make the game more enjoyable, the devs have been updating to increase the game's stakes. Zeekerss have introduced new entities to make the game harder. The Nutcracker is a toy soldier wielding a shotgun that players can obtain after killing it. However, this gun-wielding entity can instantly kill anyone who touches them or gets caught in the blast radius.

Another addition is the Mask. Scraps called "Comedy" and "Tragedy" can be found throughout the moons. While they seem normal at first, holding them in your active hand for too long or activating them with the LMB will cause the item to suffocate the user and turn them into a mindless zombie. These creatures will then attempt to infect other crewmates and turn them into one of them.

Combining these updates with additional mods makes the game more enjoyable, and devs do not mind players customizing their sessions to their hearts' delight. However, gamers should carefully curate their downloading, as not all modifications are safe. Make sure to read the reviews and look at the ratings before you add them to the game.
